TooShy vs OurDream

TooShy is an AI companion platform where AI girlfriends live in WhatsApp and Telegram. She texts you first with voice notes, AI selfies, and proactive messages. This page compares TooShy with OurDream across messaging, media, memory, and pricing.

OurDream (ourdream.ai) is a browser-based AI roleplay platform. You build a companion yourself, girlfriend or boyfriend, realistic or anime, choosing look, personality and voice, or open one from a catalogue its homepage puts at over 11 million characters. Chat, voice calls, image and video generation, text-adventure games and a creator community all sit under one login. It has no standalone mobile app; its help centre suggests a home-screen shortcut for the site.

OurDream pricing: $19.99 a month, or $9.99 a month on the yearly plan, billed upfront as one payment of $119.88. Both plans carry unlimited messages, image and video generation and 1,000 dreamcoins a month; the yearly plan adds 1,000 more on first subscribe. Past that, media runs on coins: 5 for an in-chat image, 50 for a minute of voice call. TooShy Premium is $9.99 a month, with a free trial on Telegram first.

OurDream strengths

  • You build the character yourself: realistic or anime, girlfriend or boyfriend, with face, body, hair, clothing, personality, voice and relationship dynamic all set by you. TooShy hands you a finished companion instead.
  • Image and video generation you steer yourself sits in the same subscription as the chat, with a stated monthly allowance of coins rather than a separate token shop.
  • Games, text adventures and romantasy story branches, where the plot is the point and the character is one piece of it. TooShy has nothing like that.
  • A real community around it: creator pages, a feed, and a Discord it says has over 2,000 daily members. People publish characters for others to use.
  • A boyfriend side that is a first-class product, not an afterthought, with its own creator and its own character pages.

OurDream limitations

  • Browser only. The help centre says there is no standalone mobile app and suggests adding the site to your home screen.
  • It isn't in WhatsApp or Telegram. Its homepage carries no link to either; the companion waits on its website until you go there.
  • Media is metered in dreamcoins: 5 for an image, 50 for a minute of voice call, out of 1,000 coins a month. Buying more needs an active subscription.
  • The $9.99 figure is the yearly rate, paid as $119.88 in one go. The monthly plan is $19.99.
  • Nothing on its public pages says a character ever writes to you first, so you should expect to start every conversation.
  • Refunds are limited: nothing once more than 25% of a product has been used, and monthly plans are not refundable after the coins are spent.

Why switch to TooShy

What makes TooShy different from OurDream

  • She lives in WhatsApp and Telegram, so there's no site to open and nothing to install.
  • She texts you first: a good-morning message, a voice note on a slow afternoon, a selfie that fits what you were talking about.
  • Voice messages and video circles arrive as ordinary messages in the same thread as the text.
  • Premium is $9.99 a month, the same figure OurDream shows for its yearly plan, and the first taste is a free trial on Telegram.
  • You can delete your data at any time.

Where TooShy falls short

What OurDream does that we do not

  • TooShy is a curated roster of dozens of companions, not a creator: you choose her, you don't build her face, body, voice and backstory from nothing the way you can on OurDream.
  • There is no AI boyfriend on TooShy, and there are no games, text adventures or romantasy story branches.
  • We have no public community feed or creator pages, and no image or video generator on our own site that you drive yourself; pictures and clips arrive inside the chat.
  • WhatsApp has been paid-only since 4 August 2026, so the free trial is Telegram-only.

In-depth review

OurDream or TooShy comes down to whether you want to make a character or have one waiting in the apps you already use. OurDream is a browser workshop with a creator, games, a community and image and video generation paid in coins; TooShy is a finished companion who texts you first on WhatsApp and Telegram.

If you want to build a character from scratch, play through a story, or turn out pictures and clips on your own terms, OurDream is made for that and TooShy isn't. If you'd rather have a companion who is already a contact on your phone, one who writes first and sends a voice note while you're on the bus, that's TooShy, and nothing on OurDream's public pages describes it. Those are the two shapes, and most of the rest follows from them. OurDream is a site you go to. TooShy sits inside the messengers you already open many times a day.

OurDream's side of that is deep. Its navigation runs Explore, Chat, Create, Generate, Feed and Community, and it has pages for games, romantasy and an AI boyfriend alongside the girlfriend side. The homepage puts the catalogue at over 11 million characters, and the FAQ says 7 million of them are user-made. You pick realistic or anime art, set the traits and the relationship dynamic, and the character is yours. The subscription then bundles chat with image and video generation and a monthly 1,000 dreamcoins, and the FAQ argues that rivals charge $20 to $40 or more in extra tokens on top. The arithmetic matters: at 5 coins an image, a month's allowance is 200 pictures if you spend it on nothing else; at 50 coins a minute, it's 20 minutes of voice calls. And coins can only be bought while you have an active subscription.

TooShy trades that breadth for place and initiative. A companion shows up in WhatsApp or Telegram like any other contact, and she starts conversations: a morning message, a voice note, a selfie that matches what you were talking about, a video circle. OurDream, by its own help centre, has no standalone app, only a shortcut to the website, and we found no mention anywhere on its pages of a character reaching out first. The companions are a curated roster of dozens, each with her own personality, voice and memory, so you don't spend the first evening building one. Premium is $9.99 a month, with a free trial on Telegram before you pay. OurDream's $9.99 is the yearly rate, paid as $119.88 upfront; its monthly rate is $19.99.

So who is each for? OurDream suits someone who likes the making: tuning a character, switching between art styles, running a game or a long story, publishing to a community, with the cost of media sitting in a coin balance. It also suits anyone who wants an AI boyfriend, because we don't have one. TooShy suits someone who wants the relationship to feel like texting a person: no app to open, no website to remember, messages that arrive on their own. Two things we couldn't judge from public pages and haven't tested: how well OurDream's memory holds over months, and how its video quality compares. OurDream says its characters remember past chats and that chats are end-to-end encrypted; those are its claims, and we're reporting them as such.

Frequently asked questions

Is OurDream free?
You can open a free account, but it's thin. Its help centre says free users pay 1 dreamcoin for every chat message and don't get access to most features, and coins can only be bought with an active subscription. Paid plans start at $9.99 a month on the yearly plan, or $19.99 monthly. TooShy's free trial runs on Telegram, and Premium is $9.99 a month after that.
How much does OurDream cost?
$19.99 a month on the monthly plan, or $9.99 a month on the yearly plan, billed upfront as one payment of $119.88. Both include unlimited messages, image and video generation and 1,000 dreamcoins a month, and the yearly plan adds a bonus 1,000 coins on first subscribe. TooShy Premium is $9.99 a month.
What are dreamcoins on OurDream?
Dreamcoins are OurDream's in-app currency for media. Subscriber chats cost nothing, but an in-chat image costs 5 coins and a voice-call minute costs 50, so the 1,000 coins in a monthly plan cover 200 images or 20 minutes of calls if spent on one thing. Video starts at 100 coins per 5 seconds. TooShy has no coins; Premium includes text and voice, and photos and video come as a monthly allowance.
Does OurDream work on Telegram or WhatsApp?
No. Its homepage has no link to Telegram or WhatsApp, and the product is the website. TooShy is built the other way round: the companion is a contact in WhatsApp and Telegram, with a free trial on Telegram.
Does OurDream have an app?
Not a standalone one. The help centre says there's no mobile app yet and shows how to add the site to your iPhone or Android home screen as a shortcut. TooShy needs no app either, because it runs inside the messenger you already have.
Is OurDream worth it?
It depends on what you came for. If you want to build characters, generate images and video, play story games and use a community, one subscription covers a lot of that, and the monthly coin allowance is stated up front. If you want a companion who texts you first in the apps you already use, OurDream isn't built for that, and TooShy is.
How does TooShy compare with OurDream?
OurDream is stronger at making things: a character creator, an AI boyfriend side, games and romantasy, image and video generation, a community. TooShy is stronger at being reachable: it lives in WhatsApp and Telegram, writes first, and sends voice messages and video circles as ordinary messages. Prices overlap at $9.99 a month, though OurDream's figure is the yearly rate paid upfront.
Can an OurDream character text you first?
Its public pages don't say, and we haven't tested it, so we can't tell you either way. TooShy companions do: they write first with a morning message, a voice note or a selfie.
Is OurDream private?
Its homepage FAQ says chats are end-to-end encrypted and that no one can read them, not even the company. That's its own claim. You can delete your account from the profile page, but the help centre says it's permanent and takes 24 to 48 hours, and it removes chat history, generations and unused coins.
Can you get a refund from OurDream?
Sometimes. The help centre says it can't refund a product once more than 25% of it has been used. Monthly subscriptions aren't refundable once the coins are spent, while yearly ones may get a full or partial refund. Requests go through the Request Help button on your profile.
