Where TooShy falls short
What SpicyChat does that we do not
- SpicyChat prints memory depth as a figure and ties each tier to a context window. We publish no memory number at all — ours works in layers, and there is no figure we would stand behind.
- 375,000+ community characters and an editor to add to them, against a curated cast of dozens here. There is nothing on TooShy to build or browse, and no group chat.
- SpicyChat's cheapest paid tier is €5.95 a month and its free tier, ads and all, is free to talk on. TooShy starts at $9.99 a month with nothing below it, and the free way in is the Telegram trial — WhatsApp is paid-only.
In-depth review
Both SpicyChat and TooShy give you fully uncensored AI conversations, but TooShy is the AI girlfriend who reaches out first on WhatsApp and Telegram — voice notes, AI selfies, and video circles with no ads and no browser tab between you and her.
SpicyChat has built a loyal user base by offering one of the most open content policies among AI chat platforms. The platform allows fully unfiltered NSFW conversations with community-created characters spanning various genres, kinks, and scenarios. For users whose primary concern is content freedom, SpicyChat delivers without the filters that plague Character.AI or Replika.
The trade-off for SpicyChat's openness is a bare-bones feature set. The platform is entirely text-based — no voice messages, no AI photos, no video content of any kind. It runs in a web browser only with no native app and no messenger integration. The free tier is ad-supported, meaning your conversations are interrupted by advertisements. Memory between sessions is limited.
SpicyChat's purely reactive model means you're always the initiator. Your AI character waits in a browser tab until you decide to visit. There's no spontaneity — no good morning text, no random voice note, no selfie during your lunch break. The experience is more like visiting a chat room than having a companion in your life.
