Secrets AI Alternatives: Gallery or Chat?

The two shapes fail differently. In a conversation-weighted product, the thing you run out of is interest; in a gallery-weighted one, the thing you run out of is balance, usually mid-scene, and topping up is a purchase rather than a pause. Both are sold as an AI girlfriend and they mean different daily habits by it — one is a thread you answer over a week, the other is a studio you open, spend in, and close. Everything below about a competitor comes from that company's own pages, read on 21 September 2026.

What Secrets AI charges for, and what it doesn't

Secrets AI publishes its currency clearly. "Moments are the in-app currency you spend on things like images, videos and voice calls," its own subscription FAQ says. "Your subscription refills them automatically every month: 8,000 on Premium and 15,000 on Ultimate. Subscribers also get a bonus on any extra Moments they buy, 10% on Premium and 15% on Ultimate." Messaging sits outside that economy entirely — "Unlimited Messaging" is a listed subscription feature, not a balance. So every sentence you type is free and every image, video second and spoken line is drawn down: text-to-speech is billed per 100 characters, a silent video is described as "50% cheaper" than one with sound, and a group photo "is {cost} moments per model included in the photo," with the app warning that "the AI chooses which companions appear in the scene based on the conversation, so the final cost is not known until the image is generated."

Around that meter sits a lot of product that isn't chat: a Generation Studio, an images tab and a videos tab, exclusive bundles to buy, and Shorts — "Mini-dramas starring your companions. Start watching free." The store names four tiers, Lite, Plus, Premium and Ultimate, but no dollar figure rendered on the store page we loaded, so the Moments counts are the only quantity Secrets publishes before checkout. A free account is offered "200 Free Moments" — enough to see the studio, not to live in it — and a guest who hasn't signed up hits two separate walls: "You've sent {count} messages as a guest" and "Create an Account to Generate Images."

Whether the same face comes back

The gallery-first products all hit the same wall eventually, which is whether picture two looks like picture one. Secrets is unusually honest about it: a note inside its generator reads "Results may vary - AI image generation cannot guarantee perfect or consistent results across multiple images." Its answer is a reference photo you nominate yourself — "This photo is the whole of {name}'s look: every image is generated from it and nothing else. Pick any of your generated images to make it the reference. Without one, the avatar is used" — with tips that a full-body, front-facing shot "preserve[s] the most, from face to figure," and that keeping explicit detail consistent means choosing an explicit reference. That's real engineering, and it's also a job handed to the customer. In a conversation-weighted product the question doesn't arise, because the character was fixed before you arrived.

The gallery-first end of the list

OurDream splits the same way Secrets does and says so in schema on its own homepage: $19.99 a month, or $119.88 billed once a year, and both plans "include unlimited messages with any AI character, access to image and video generation, and 1000 dreamcoins each month." Messages are the unmetered half; dreamcoins are what images, videos and voice calls come out of. It argues the point directly against its rivals, too: "On most other platforms, you will spend $20-40+ per month on additional tokens. At ourdream ai, 1,000 dreamcoins is included in the subscription which covers all your needs including videos." Its own description — "Chat, send images & videos and voice call" over a catalogue it claims runs to eleven million profiles — puts browsing at least level with talking.

Lovescape is the furthest from a chat product on this list and is upfront about it. Its title is "AI Porn Generator for Images, Videos, Stories & Chat," and its own copy positions conversation as a step in a production line rather than the destination: "AI porn chat gives you a way to establish personality, tone and scenario before creating visual content," and "a private conversation can define the tone of an image. A generated image can become the foundation of a video." Continuity is handled by "reusable profiles" that keep "one creative direction, one consistent profile" across formats. Its front end calls a balance endpoint for tokens, so a metered currency clearly exists, but no token price or plan figure appeared on any page we could load — the pricing URL returned the marketing shell and nothing else.

PepHop AI is the one entry here we can't describe at all. Its homepage returns a bare application shell — a title, an og:site_name of "PepHop AI", analytics tags and an empty root element, with every word of the actual product rendered client-side behind a bot check. Its pricing path returned the identical shell. We'd rather leave the row blank than repeat a credit count from a review site, so nothing about how PepHop balances pictures against chat is claimed here.

The conversation-first end

Dippy AI is the clean opposite pole. Its own title is "AI Character Chat & Roleplay (online, free, unlimited)" and its own description promises "millions of proactive AI characters" with "unlimited messaging, advanced roleplay, seamless character creation—all for FREE! perfect memory, limitless fun." No gallery, no studio, no image currency is named anywhere in what its server actually sends. The caveat we'll state plainly: only Dippy's server-rendered head loaded for us, so every quote above comes from its own title and meta description rather than from a rendered page — enough to place it, not enough to audit it.

Nomi keeps pictures inside the conversation instead of beside it. "Get Real-Time Selfies," its homepage says: "Bring your conversations to life by having your Nomi send you selfies that capture what they are wearing and doing in the moment." A selfie there is a thing the character does, not a job you queue — there's no studio screen, no bundle store, no feed of generated video. It's also free to begin: the homepage states it's "free (no credit card required) to start chatting." What it doesn't publish on that page is whether selfies are capped or counted, so the one number this comparison most wants is missing.

TooShy is the other conversation-weighted entry, and its shape is decided by where it runs: inside WhatsApp and Telegram, as a thread. There is no gallery to open, no studio, no prompt box and no feed — a photo, a voice note or a short video arrives in the same conversation as the text, because there's nowhere else for it to arrive. Nothing is metered per item; the allowance sits on the plan instead, at 40 photos a month on Premium and 80 on Ultra, at a flat $9.99 and $19. The roster is curated and fixed, so the face that answers on Friday is the face from Monday without anyone nominating a reference photo — and equally, there is no character editor and no way to build someone new.

Where TooShy sits on this axis

Our own split is the most useful number we can put on this page, and it doesn't flatter the picture side. Over the 30 days ending 20 September 2026, 44,120 messages moved through the two messengers, and 1.1% of everything sent was something other than typed text. Read honestly, that's a product where the conversation is not just the free part but nearly the whole part. Someone who opens an AI companion mainly to build a gallery would find TooShy thin, and the aggregate says so rather than hiding behind the fact that photos are included.

Our own traffic, split by type

What the picture-heavy products genuinely do better is worth naming. Secrets AI ships a whole production surface — a studio with realism and adherence controls, reference photos, video built from a chosen first and last frame, a weekly drama feed, and a refund policy when a generation fails ("{cost} Moments refunded to your account," though "advanced image generations and edits are not eligible"). OurDream bundles unlimited messaging and a thousand dreamcoins into one published price and dares you to compare it. Lovescape carries an idea across chat, image, story and video without rebuilding it each time. None of that exists here, and none of it can, inside a messenger thread.

What the picture-heavy products do better

The gaps on our side are specific. No studio means no prompt box, no style controls, no upscaling, no video you direct frame by frame, and no library of other people's images to fork. Forty photos a month is a hard ceiling, not a soft one, and it's the plan that holds it rather than a balance you can top up when a scene is going well. WhatsApp has no free entry at all — Telegram's trial is the only way in without a card. And a curated roster is the same fact as a locked one: nobody here can invent a companion who doesn't already exist.

TooShy's honest limits here

If the point is to produce images and videos and keep producing them, Secrets AI is the most complete machine on this list and its Moments figures are published up front, even if its dollar prices aren't. If unlimited chat plus a monthly media allowance at one stated price is the shape you want, OurDream publishes exactly that. If the images are the work and chat is the brief, that's Lovescape's own description of itself. If you want to talk and nothing else, Dippy's own copy says free and unlimited, and Nomi's selfies arrive inside the conversation rather than in a queue. TooShy fits a narrower want: a fixed character texting you on WhatsApp or Telegram, whose photos show up in the thread, at a published count per month.

Who each one actually fits

Every quote above was read on 21 September 2026 from a page belonging to that company, and where a site returned an empty application shell, that is stated as exactly that. We also checked each domain was the brand's own rather than a lookalike: Secrets AI's canonical is www.secrets.ai with assets on cdn.secrets.ai, OurDream's markup names Dream Studio USA, Inc. and alternates to ourdream.io, Lovescape's og:site_name is its own, and Dippy's page preloads prod-api.dippy.ai. TooShy's figures are aggregates from its production database over the same window, with nothing traceable to a person.

How we checked this

None of this answers whether a given character is good company — that takes a conversation. It does answer a question the homepages blur: which half of the product you're actually buying, and which half is the free sample.
