Venice AI Alternatives for Companion Chat

Yes, and the reason is not mainly the filter. Venice's own pages describe a private AI studio for text, images, video and music, and character chat is one feature inside it. Someone who wanted a companion — a person who writes first, remembers last week and comes with a face — will find the parts at Venice, but has to put them together alone. Seven products that arrive already assembled follow, each described only from what the company prints about itself.
Venice does answer the content question out loud. Its homepage heading reads “Uncensored AI chat, images, video, and more,” and the free plan on its pricing page lists “Private & uncensored.” Where its pages pull in different directions is everything around that: who may use it, what a credit is worth, and how much of “private” each plan actually gets. Those three are set out side by side below, without picking a winner between them.
What Venice is
Venice calls itself “Private AI for Unlimited Creative Freedom,” and the homepage promise is to “Access leading AI models with your privacy in mind.” The logos under it name Claude, Google, DeepSeek, OpenAI, Mistral, Meta, Qwen, Grok and others, and the copy offers “fully private or anonymized models from leading AI providers” for text, images, video, audio, code and agents. The footer says “Private, unrestricted AI for everyone.” Nothing in that description is a companion product, and it does not pretend to be one.
Characters live on their own page, headed “Private and Uncensored AI Characters.” You start from scratch, pick a preset or have one generated, and can attach documents up to 5 MB so the character knows more than you typed into it. Its feature list reads “No Filter AI Characters,” “Auto-Generate,” “Rich Backstories” and “Duplicate and Evolve.” The pricing page lists “Create and share custom characters” under the paid Pro plan and not under Free.
Free is real but small: base models, 10 text prompts and 15 image prompts a day. Pro is $18 a month with unlimited text and 1,000 images a day. Pro Plus is $68 and Max is $200, and those two differ mostly in how many credits arrive each month — 7,500 and 22,500 — for video, music, premium models and the developer interface. There is also a one-time welcome gift of 500 credits listed in the comparison table. A five-second video is described as costing “under 80 credits.”
On a phone, the App Store listing “Venice AI” from VENICE.AI carries a 17+ rating and showed 4.2 stars from 1,460 ratings when we read it. A browser works without installing anything, and the FAQ lists a question on installing it on a phone or tablet.
Privacy is the headline, and the privacy page draws it more carefully than the homepage does. Every model falls into one of four modes. In Anonymous, “you should assume the provider is storing your content.” In Private, the default, “no prompt or response is stored,” though the same page labels this “Trust-based” because it relies on Venice and its partners keeping their contracts. The TEE and end-to-end encrypted modes are marked Pro, and the encrypted one comes with “No web search or memory.” Conversation history is described as kept on your own device.
Where its own pages disagree
Age comes first. The Terms of Service say “You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service,” with a parent or guardian's consent under 18. The App Store rates the app 17+. The homepage and character pages sell uncensored chat and images. None of the pages we read states a minimum of 18, so three numbers describe one product and the pages do not say which governs.
Credits come second, and they are counted three ways. The homepage prices them in dollars — Pro “$1 in credits per month,” Pro+ “$75,” Max “$225.” The pricing page counts them as numbers, 100, 7,500 and 22,500, and says “100 credits = $1.” Section 6.5 of the Terms then says Venice Credits “have no monetary value” and “do not have a fiat currency equivalent,” and that “certain Venice Credits are subject to expiration,” while the pricing page promises that unused credits “roll forward” for two or three months. These can all be true at once, but a reader comparing prices has to pick which sentence to rely on.
The tagline is the third. Pro is described as “every model, every medium, no limits,” next to 1,000 images a day and 100 credits a month for video, music and the premium models. And “Every tier includes uncensored models and full privacy” on the homepage sits beside a privacy page where the Anonymous mode assumes the model provider keeps your text, and the strongest modes are for Pro. Each of these is defensible in its own place. Put together, they are why two readers can leave the same pricing page with different totals.
Refunds are plain in the Terms — fees “are non-refundable, except as required by law” — while the FAQ lists a question titled “What is the refund policy?” whose answer did not show in the copy we could read. We have not guessed at it.
Eight products, ordered by how much of a companion each one hands you without assembly, with the clearest printed price as the tiebreak. Venice itself sits outside the order as the thing being compared against. Every cell comes from a company's own page; the Venice row was read on 15 October 2026.

What the alternatives say for themselves
Nomi is the nearest thing to the opposite of a studio: one companion, one relationship, and a sentence that settles the content question. Its homepage heading reads “Unfiltered Chats” and the copy argues that “the only way AI can live up to its potential is to remain unfiltered and uncensored.” Memory is “short, medium, and long term” with no figure attached. The site publishes no price — nomi.ai/pricing returns a 404 — while its App Store listing carries Launch Plan $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year and Standard $15.99 a month. We read both on 21 September 2026.
SpicyChat is the closest in how it sells the catalogue and the nearest to Venice on memory, since it quotes memory as a number: 4K of context on Get A Taste, 8K on True Supporter, up to 32K on I'm All In. Tiers moved to $5.95, $19.95 and $29.95 a month on 8 September 2026. Its free-roleplay page claims “1 Million+ NSFW Characters” and “Unlimited Messages... No paywalls. No timers.” A developer's reply on its App Store listing puts the live library at “over 1,000 characters.” Read on 21 September 2026.
Chub AI is the product that behaves most like Venice, because both make you decide what is doing the talking. Registration and browsing are free, and its docs list seven connectable APIs, six of which need an account and a key at another company. The seventh is its own subscription, Mars at $20 a month, “No managing keys or setting up servers, just subscribe.” Nothing speaks until a model is attached. Read on 21 September 2026.
OurDream puts “Unlimited messages with any AI character” in the headline and prices everything else in its help centre. The plan is $19.99 a month, or $9.99 a month billed upfront as $119.88 a year, with 1,000 dreamcoins a month. Subscriber chat costs nothing, but its “Genius” models cost 1 dreamcoin per response, voice calls 50 coins a minute and video 100 coins per five seconds, and “Dreamcoins do not refresh monthly.” Read on 21 September 2026.
Candy.ai uses the word about itself, in its own meta description: uncensored. It runs in a browser and installs as a web app, so no store sits in the way. No dollar figure appears on the homepage; plans are monthly, quarterly and yearly, with roughly 100 tokens a month disclosed at checkout per its terms. One token pool covers chat, voice, images and video. Read on 21 September 2026.
CrushOn.AI prints the longest ladder of the group — Standard $5.99, Premium $14.99, Luxe $39.99, Elite $89.99 and Imperial $199.99 a month — and its pricing page title says “No Filter” while its Community Guidelines say “Avoid depicting explicit sexual activity and stimulation.” The free tier is 100 message credits a month, with chat history deleted after seven days of inactivity. Read on 30 September 2026.
Our own numbers
These are production aggregates — counts and shares, no conversation text, nothing that points at a person. In the thirty days to 15 October 2026, 450,678 messages went through. In an earlier window, the thirty days ending 1 September 2026, of what people typed, 4.34% touched mature content, 7.37% asked for photos and 0.36% were about whether a companion remembered something.
Our arrangement is simple to state. There is no adult-content filter, and no tier buys one. Premium is $9.99 a month and Ultra is $24.99. Memory runs in three layers — the live exchange, a rolling window of recent days and weeks, and a slower set of extracted facts — and it is the same on both paid tiers and on the free Telegram trial. WhatsApp has been paid from the first message since 4 August 2026, the Telegram trial needs no card, and a free account gets ten photos a week.
What Venice does better
Range is the plain win. Text, images, video, music and a developer interface sit behind one login, with frontier models from other companies available by name, and we offer none of it. The free plan prints its daily limits — 10 text prompts, 15 image prompts — which is the kind of number competitors leave out.
Privacy is the other. Venice describes four modes, says which of them rest on a promise and which on hardware, and keeps history on the device. We hold conversations on our servers; nothing here matches a mode where even the company cannot read your prompt.
Character-building goes further too. Venice lets you write the character, attach documents up to 5 MB and duplicate it into a variation. If the pleasure is in making one, rather than meeting one, that is a different order of control from a fixed cast.
Where we fall short
Our cast is small, fixed and written by us — dozens of companions, none user-made, with no builder, no editor and nothing to import or export. There is no studio: no prompt box for pictures, video or music, no model picker and no developer interface. A companion's memory is a description of its shape, not something you can open and correct, and group chats do not exist.
Scale is the other gap. We are a small service, and the free way in is Telegram or nothing, since WhatsApp costs money from the first message. A product with an App Store rating count in the thousands has been pushed in ways ours has not.
Who each of these suits
- Stay on Venice if the draw is the studio — one account for chat, images and video, a choice of models and a privacy mode you can name.
- Pick Nomi if one companion is enough and you want the content position stated in a single sentence, with a free start.
- Pick SpicyChat if you want a large catalogue and memory sold as a published number.
- Pick us if you would rather the conversation arrive inside WhatsApp or Telegram at a flat monthly price, with no credits to convert, and a small in-house cast is an acceptable trade.
- Pick Chub AI if tinkering with the model is the point, not the price of it.
- Pick OurDream if you want the cost of each extra printed in a help article before you spend.
- Pick Candy.ai if a browser is the whole requirement and learning the price at checkout does not bother you.
- Pick CrushOn.AI if you want every tier's amount printed before committing, and are ready for its guidelines to be narrower than its page title.
Where these facts came from
Everything quoted about Venice was read on 15 October 2026 on its homepage, pricing page, characters page, FAQ list, privacy page and Terms of Service, plus its App Store listing for the age rating and the star count. The FAQ was read as a list of questions only; its answers were collapsed in the copy we could get, and nothing here is taken from them. Facts about the other six products come from each company's own pages, on the dates recorded against them in our notes on those products. Our figures are production aggregates for the thirty days to 15 October 2026 (message total; the shares from earlier windows are dated where they appear).
Open questions
Several things need someone who has used it, and nobody here has. The pricing comparison has rows for NSFW image generation and Character creation whose per-plan marks did not come through, so which plans include them is unconfirmed. Venice's FAQ has a question on how memory works, and another on importing memories from another assistant, but we did not read the answers. How a Venice character holds a personality over a six-week chat is untested. Those answers belong to someone who runs them, not to a review site.
