PolyBuzz Alternatives: Where the Filter Sits

Yes, there are several, and the reason to want one is printed on PolyBuzz's own pages rather than in anybody's review. Its FAQ offers “Free, Private, and Unrestricted AI character chats with over 20 million characters,” and a few answers further down the same FAQ states that PolyBuzz “strictly prohibit public display of NSFW content.” Its Terms of Use are blunter still: nothing may “depict pornography or sexual acts (including intercourse, masturbation, and sexual nudity).”
Those sentences are less a contradiction than a boundary drawn between two different things — a conversation nobody else sees, and a character other people can browse. Which side of it somebody landed on decides what they should switch to, and it is why the same product gets described as unlimited by one person and as a wall by the next. Seven products follow. What separates them is how plainly each one answers that same question in its own words, and whether the answer costs anything to read.
What PolyBuzz is
PolyBuzz describes itself as “a Free, Private, and Unlimited AI Chat platform with over 20 million unique Characters, offering personalized conversations and immersive roleplaying experiences.” Its homepage is built from four promises in this order: “Talk to AI That Remembers You,” “AI Roleplay and Emotional Connections,” “Your AI Girlfriend or Boyfriend,” and “Read AI Webtoons Online for Free.” The publisher is Cloud Whale Interactive Technology, LLC. On the App Store the app holds 4.4 stars from 483,939 ratings, carries an 18+ age rating, first appeared on 23 May 2023 and was last updated on 19 September 2026. On Google Play it holds 4.0 from 1.19 million reviews, has passed 50,000,000 downloads, is marked “Contains ads” and was updated on 21 September 2026.
There are two doors in and no third one. The FAQ says it outright — “You cannot download the PolyBuzz client on PC. However, you can access the web version” — and that web version, by the same answer, “also includes free image generation and downloads, along with interactive animated characters.” For phones: “Yes, we have the PolyBuzz mobile app! Head over to Google Play or the App Store.” Neither WhatsApp nor Telegram is mentioned anywhere on the pages read, so a companion who turns up in the thread already open on your phone is not something PolyBuzz offers.
Money comes in three shapes. The steady place to read the amounts is the in-app purchase list on its App Store entry, because the site quotes by region — a European visitor gets euros — under a running discount timer. Memberships there are Standard Weekly $4.99, Standard Monthly $9.90, Premium Monthly $19.90 and Ultimate Monthly $29.90. Coins go 1,000 for $2.49, 3,000 for $4.99, 8,000 for $9.99 and 20,000 for $19.90. Opals, a second currency alongside coins, are 1,000 for $5.90 and 4,000 for $19.90.
Memory is the first thing the homepage promises and the thing the ladder charges for. The FAQ is candid about the limit: PolyBuzz “has relatively strong memory capabilities and offers various models to choose from. However, it's important to note that the AI's memory capacity is technically limited, which means it may ‘forget' previous conversations over time.” The remedy is sold rather than shipped. The membership page lists “Long Memory” against Premium and “Permanent Memory(PM)” against Ultimate, and the Opals page offers “Enhanced Memory — Longer contextual recall and relationship continuity.” So “Talk to AI That Remembers You” has three price points standing behind it.
Where the limit actually bites
Moderation governs what other people can see, and the FAQ describes the machinery for it: “All recommended content undergoes multi-layered AI screening and human moderation.” A character flagged “Violation” — the stated reasons are “content related to pornography, minors, inappropriate language, or sensitive topics” — is not deleted. It “will only be visible to you.” For a public library of twenty million cards that is a defensible design, and it is also how a character somebody made for one purpose quietly stops being findable by anybody else.
The Terms sit above all of that, and they are not about display at all. They forbid content that “depicts pornography or sexual acts (including intercourse, masturbation, and sexual nudity)” full stop. They also state “You must have reached 18-year-old to use PolyBuzz,” require age verification for users in the United Kingdom under the Online Safety Act, and say that “any user payment made in accordance with our rates and policies will not be refunded.” Put beside the Unrestricted line in the FAQ, the position reads: adults only, no adult content, no money back.
Two smaller things are worth carrying into a switch. Voice is metered on both sides of the same feature — the membership page offers “Unlimited voice listening on chat page,” the FAQ says “You can use coins to extend voice chat duration,” and the Terms describe input as “texting or voice input.” And none of the homepage, FAQ, membership page, coins page, Opals page or Terms mentions a companion writing to you first: the words proactive, notification and first message appear on none of them. That is an absence in what the company documents, which is a weaker statement than saying it never happens.
Eight products, ordered by how plainly each one's own pages answer the question PolyBuzz splits across two documents — whether adult content is allowed — with price readability as the tiebreak. PolyBuzz itself sits outside the order as the thing being compared against. Every cell comes from a company's own page; the PolyBuzz row was read on 13 October 2026.

- Price
- No price on its site (/pricing 404s). App Store listing: Launch Plan $9.99/month or $59.99/year; Standard $15.99/month, $39.99/quarter or $99.99/year

Homepage heading reads “Unfiltered Chats”; its copy argues AI must “remain unfiltered and uncensored.” Memory is “short, medium, and long term” with no figure. Downgrading “does not remove any Nomis”; group chats, video, voice messaging and calls “become read-only.”

- WhatsApp, Telegram
- Price
- Premium $9.99/month, with one tier above it
- Free tier
- Free Telegram trial, no card; WhatsApp is paid from the first message
- Download
- None — the messenger already on the phone
No adult-content filter, no coins and no second currency. Memory runs in three layers and is identical on the trial and on both paid tiers. Dozens of companions, all written in-house: no builder, no editor, no catalog, no imports, no group chats.
Candy.ai
Calls itself uncensored in its own metadata, and keeps the amount for checkout

- Free tier

- Download
- Direct APK from apk.co-cdn.com; no store link on its own site
Page title says “No Filter”; its Community Guidelines say “Avoid depicting explicit sexual activity and stimulation.” Run by TECHIEPIE LTD in Cyprus, with three currencies: message credits, earned Coins, and Diamonds that become a creator's income.
Chub AI
The home of the card format PolyBuzz imports from, with a model to connect first
- Platform
- Web
- Price
- Free to register; Mars subscription $20/month, or pay your own API provider
- Free tier
- Browsing and an account are free; the Kobold route is “FREE*” with hardware as the asterisk
- Download
- None — browser
Its docs list seven connectable APIs, six needing an account and a key at another company. Mars is the exception: “No managing keys or setting up servers, just subscribe.” Nothing speaks until a model is attached.
Stricter than PolyBuzz on purpose, with the free-tier throttle in its own table
- Platform
- Web, iOS, Android
- Price
- c.ai+ $94.99/year, printed against $119.88 paying monthly
- Free tier
- Yes — but its own table lists “Slow mode: Yes” on free against “None” on c.ai+
- Download
- Apps exist; web works without one
Its shipped code requires 18+ age verification before a one-to-one chat unlocks, and the full written content policy blocked automated access. Free gets “Basic” memory with 15 pins; paid gets “Best” memory with 30 and “Priority” access.
What the alternatives say for themselves
SpicyChat puts the content question in its marketing instead of in a sub-clause. Its free-roleplay page claims “1 Million+ NSFW Characters” and promises “Unlimited Messages... No paywalls. No timers.” It also sells memory as a number, which almost nobody else in this group does: 4K of context on Get A Taste, 8K on True Supporter, up to 32K on I'm All In, with Semantic Memory 2.0 compressing older messages and a hand-written Memory Manager capped at 250 characters an entry. Tiers moved to $5.95, $19.95 and $29.95 a month on 8 September 2026 from $5.00, $14.95 and $24.95, and an existing subscriber “keeps paying the price you are paying today” for as long as the plan is unchanged. One caveat comes from its own App Store listing, where a developer's reply to a review puts the live library at “over 1,000 characters” against the million on the marketing page.
Nomi resolves the split the other way, with one sentence covering everything. Its homepage heading reads “Unfiltered Chats” and the copy under it argues that “the only way AI can live up to its potential is to remain unfiltered and uncensored.” Memory is described as “short, medium, and long term” with no figure attached, and the site publishes no price at all — nomi.ai/pricing returns a 404 — while its App Store listing carries Launch Plan $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year and Standard $15.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year. Getting started costs nothing: “free (no credit card required) to start chatting.” It is also the only product here that writes down what a downgrade keeps, which matters when memory is the thing being paid for — Nomis survive, one-to-one chat keeps working, and group chats, video, voice messaging and calls “become read-only.”
Candy.ai uses the word about itself, in its own meta description: uncensored. It runs in a browser and installs as a progressive web app, so there is no store listing in the way. The cost is the murky part — no dollar figure on the homepage, plans sold monthly, quarterly and yearly, and roughly 100 tokens a month disclosed at checkout per its own terms. One token pool covers chat, voice, images and video, which is PolyBuzz's coins-and-Opals arrangement under a single name, with the same effect: what a session costs depends on what gets asked for.
CrushOn.AI repeats PolyBuzz's own problem almost exactly. Its pricing page title says “No Filter” while its Community Guidelines say “Avoid depicting explicit sexual activity and stimulation,” and the free tier runs on 100 message credits a month with chat history deleted after seven days of inactivity. What it does better than nearly anyone is print the whole ladder: Standard $5.99, Premium $14.99, Luxe $39.99, Elite $89.99 and Imperial $199.99 a month, with a Pro chat package at $24.99 on top of that. It is run by TECHIEPIE LTD in Cyprus, ships its Android build as a direct APK rather than through a store, and keeps three currencies going at once — message credits, earned Coins, and Diamonds that turn into a creator's income.
Chub AI is where the card format PolyBuzz imports from actually lives. PolyBuzz's FAQ names Character.AI, Pygmalion, Zoltanai, Text Generation and TavernAI as places you can bring a character in from; Chub is the warehouse for that ecosystem, free to register and free to browse. The trade is setup. Its own docs list seven connectable APIs, six of which need an account and a key at some other company, and the seventh is its own subscription — Mars at $20 a month, “No managing keys or setting up servers, just subscribe.” Nobody gets a first reply out of Chub without deciding which model produces it, and if the appeal of PolyBuzz was never having to think about that, this is the wrong direction.
Character.AI is in this group for the opposite reason to everything above it: stricter than PolyBuzz, not looser. Its own shipped code requires 18+ age verification before a one-to-one chat unlocks, and the written content policy refused automated access when we went looking for it. Its comparison table states the cost of staying free without being asked — “Slow mode: Yes” on free against “None” on c.ai+, “Basic” memory with 15 pins against “Best” with 30, “Limited” daily feature limits against “Priority” access — at $94.99 a year, printed next to $119.88 paying monthly. If what worked about PolyBuzz was the catalog and the roleplay rather than the Unrestricted line, this is the bigger version of that with its limits written down in one document instead of two.
Our own numbers
Ours are production aggregates — counts and shares, no conversation text, nothing that points at a person. Over the thirty days ending 1 September 2026, people sent us 46,087 messages: 4.34% of them touched mature content, 7.37% asked for photos, and 0.36% were about whether a companion remembered something from before. Those are measurements of what gets typed, not a claim about how unfiltered anything is. In the same window 44,120 messages went back out, across 1,009 conversations held by 460 people, with 425 new registrations alongside them. An active conversation averaged 64 messages, the longest reached 899, and replies averaged 17 seconds.
On the two things PolyBuzz charges for, our arrangement is flat. There is no adult-content filter, and that is a property of the product rather than a tier anybody buys. Memory runs in three layers — the live exchange, a rolling window of recent days and weeks, and a slower set of extracted facts that outlasts that window — and paying more does not buy more of it: Premium and the tier above it run the same memory, and so does the free Telegram trial. Premium is $9.99 a month. WhatsApp has been paid from the first message since 4 August 2026, while the Telegram trial needs no card, and a free account gets ten photos a week.
What PolyBuzz does better
The catalog is not a close contest. Twenty million characters against a cast written in-house is a difference of kind, and the import path widens it: by PolyBuzz's own FAQ you “can freely create your own character, customize their voice, tags, story, and appearance,” and bring cards in from the five platforms it names. Nothing we run accepts a character from anywhere else, and nothing we run lets anybody build one. If browsing is the pleasure — opening a dozen tabs, trying a handful of personalities in an evening — PolyBuzz wins that outright, and so does SpicyChat.
It is also cheaper to try and far wider in reach. Free image generation and downloads sit inside the web version by the company's own description, with interactive animated characters next to them; webtoons are an entire second thing to do in the same app, at no cost; the entry price is a week at $4.99 rather than a month at anything; and the app sits on both stores with more than fifty million Google Play downloads behind it. We have no app, no store listing, no weekly plan, no webtoons, and no free image generation on the web.
Where we fall short
The cast is small, fixed and written by us — dozens of companions, none user-made, no builder, no editor, no public catalog to browse and nothing to export. There is no screen that shows what a companion has kept about you and no entry to correct when something lands wrong; three layers is a description of the shape, not something anybody gets to read. Group chats do not exist, so every conversation is one to one. Anyone whose reason for leaving PolyBuzz is that twenty million characters were not enough should stop reading here.
Scale is the other honest gap. Four hundred and sixty people held a conversation with us in that thirty-day window, against downloads counted in tens of millions and store ratings counted in hundreds of thousands. A product that size has been pushed in ways ours has not, by people we have never had. And the free way in is Telegram or nothing, since WhatsApp costs money from the first message.
Who each of these suits
- Pick SpicyChat if the catalog feeling is what you want without the Unrestricted-but-prohibited split, and a published context size is how you would rather have memory sold to you.
- Pick Nomi if one companion is enough, you want the content position stated in a single sentence instead of spread across two documents, and you want to try it before a card is involved.
- Pick us if you would rather have the conversation arrive inside WhatsApp or Telegram at a flat monthly price, with no coins, no second currency and no memory upsell — and a small in-house cast is an acceptable trade.
- Pick Candy.ai if a browser is the entire requirement and learning the price at checkout does not bother you.
- Pick CrushOn.AI if you want every tier's amount printed before committing, and you are ready for its guidelines to turn out narrower than its page title.
- Pick Chub AI if the cards were the point, and connecting a model yourself — or paying $20 a month to skip that step — is a fair price for keeping the format.
- Pick Character.AI if the Unrestricted line was never the draw and the roleplay was, and you would rather have the boundary stated plainly up front.
- Stay on PolyBuzz if the private conversation already works the way you want and the draw is twenty million characters, webtoons and a weekly price — nothing above replaces that particular combination.
Where these facts came from
Everything quoted about PolyBuzz was read on 13 October 2026 on its homepage, its FAQ, its membership page, its Opals page and its Terms of Use, with the dollar amounts taken from the in-app purchase list on its App Store entry rather than the site, because the site quotes by region. The store figures — ratings, review counts, downloads, release and update dates — came from the App Store and Google Play listings the same day. Facts about the other six products come from each company's own pages, checked on the dates recorded against them in our notes on those products, and nothing appears here that was not already sourced that way. Our own figures are production aggregates for the thirty days ending 1 September 2026.
Open questions
PolyBuzz does not publish how many people use it. No monthly or daily active figure appears on any page read, so downloads and ratings are the only size available, and those measure installs and opinions rather than people in conversations. The limits of the free tier are not published either: the FAQ says the service “is accessible at no cost, or you can opt for a membership” without saying what runs out first, or when. And nobody here has spent a paid Ultimate month finding out what Permanent Memory actually holds after six weeks, which is the test the first line of that homepage deserves. Those answers come from someone who runs them, not from a review site.
